This magnificent live-edge walnut and steel coffee table has four ammonite fossils embedded into the wood to create a stunning and literally timeless piece – the largest embedded fossil is an 11.5cm cleoniceras ammonite from Madagascar which is an awe-inspiring 120 million years old. The fossils and the 5cm thick slab of wood have been carefully matched together, and teamed with some seriously industrial steel legs for a strong modern rustic feel.

The inspiration: There’s a certain magic that lingers around fossils, and it feels like a privilege somehow to work with them. We team the individual fossils with a specific piece of walnut and spend a long time positioning them so that the curves of the fossils work with the movement of the grain in the wood.
